ABOUT ME

Hello! I'm Ananya Antony, an Indo-Canadian actor, performer, and creative artist currently based in Ottawa, Ontario. Originally from India, I spent my childhood in Dubai, where I discovered my passion for acting through classes in which my parents enrolled me. These classes and performances ignited a spark within me – a passion for storytelling and the transformative power of performance. After moving to St. John's, Newfoundland, I continued to pursue acting, thanks to the encouragement of my Theatre Arts teacher, John Rao, who pushed me to pursue the arts professionally. 

I attended the University of Ottawa's Acting Conservatory from 2020 to 2023, where I received training from a number of industry professionals such as Kristina Watt, Attila Clemann, and Emily Pearlman, all of whom provided me with invaluable insights and guidance, nurturing my skills and expanding my artistic horizons. 

Currently, I'm pursuing a Master of Arts in Social Justice Studies at Lakehead University, aiming to utilize my education to create art that promotes change in the world. Alongside my studies, I have continued to collaborate with various theatre companies across Canada, including Persistence Theatre, AOR Presents, and Shakespeare by The Sea. I find fulfillment in connecting with audiences and exploring human emotion through performance. Some of my past roles include #11 in Sarah Delappe’s "The Wolves," Gower in William Shakespeare's "Pericles, Prince of Tyre," and Julia in George Orwell’s "1984."

In addition to my love for acting, I have always been drawn to the world of dance. From the graceful movements of Ballet to the vibrant energy of Bollywood and the powerful expression of Bharatnatyam, I have explored a myriad of dance styles, each contributing to my artistic expression and performance versatility. 

Whether I'm delving into the complexities of human emotion on stage or shedding light on important social issues, I believe in the power of art to provoke thought, inspire change, and foster empathy.
